How Does Mobile Bidding Silent Auction Work
There are several points of similarity and differences between traditional auctions and silent auctions. In both cases, a venue has to be decided and the items for sale have to be physically displayed. On the other hand, while the usual auctions have auctioneers tracking the bids which are called out by the participants loudly, in a mobile bidding silent auction, bids are placed over any Internet-enabled device like smartphone, tablet, or laptop from any remote location.
There are two ways of bidding at silent auctions. In the
first case, a paper is placed in front of the displayed item and participants
have to write the bids in the rows on it. The highest bid is declared the
winner.
In mobile bidding silent auction, there are several
benefits.
For one, the participants do not have to be physically
present at the venue but can bid from any location on their smartphones while
on the go. After a bid is placed, a notification is sent to the participant
when that price is crossed with the option to further raise the bid or drop
out.
Another advantage of mobile bidding silent auction is
that a bidder can set a maximum amount for an item. While the bidding goes on
among others the person is free to go about with other work. Only when this
maximum amount is crossed will a notification be sent. It is not necessary to
be involved at all times with the auction.
Bid prices at mobile bidding silent auction are higher
than in traditional auctions. This is because participants can be from any
corner of the globe and the competition to win items pushes prices up.
